Shoe lust, courtesy of Kate Middleton

In keeping with the "Royal Visit" theme (on my beauty blog I've posted about Bourjois' Rose Lounge nail polish), I'm going to share with you my most recent shoe lust. This has been going on since April 30, and has yet to simmer down. Kate walked across the lawn of Buckingham Palace in these shoes the morning after her wedding, and I was immediately obsessed.

grabbed off the LK Bennett website
These are the LK Bennett Maddox espadrille wedges. Apparently LK Bennett is a high street shop in England. I don't remember it from the summer I spent there, but to be honest, I was 15 and obsessed with Topshop, Oasis, and Miss Selfridge, and didn't have nearly enough money to even consider going into this store. I still don't, actually. Anyhow, I've perused their website and if/when I (a) have any money or (b) find myself back in England, I think a trip to one of their stores is in order. I believe they've opened a few stores in the states too... either way, these shoes do not exist in my country.

I've been looking everywhere for even a close dupe for these, the closest I've found under $100 is the Jessica Simpson Jackson wedge, but it's much more of a platform and less ladylike/princesslike.

The LK Bennett ones go for £165, which is roughly $250 CDN. I could save up for that. But what kills me is that the shipping for these babies is £45. Which is $70. Which pretty much goes against all of my principles when it comes to online shopping. And they are perpetually sold out, because obviously I'm not the only Kate Middleton fashion groupie out there. And those other groupies most likely have deeper pockets than I do.

Now accepting donations of cash, or the shoe itself. I'm looking at you, LK Bennett.

Kidding :) ... kind of...

I'm debating whether it would be inappropriate to ask her for her shoes if I am lucky enough to shake her hand on Canada Day. We have the same size feet, so I don't see why it would be a problem...

That sounds a lot less creepy in my head.

My final thought of the night: Oh how I wish Hot Harry were coming on this Royal trip.

OOTD: Vintage lace + denim

Salut les filles!

It's crazy hot here today, so I put this breezy and casual outfit together.

I'd totally forgotten about this shirt, so when I found it in my closet I was really excited to wear it! I bought it years ago, probably 5 or 6, from a vintage sale for $10. I really like the way it looks with high-waisted denim shorts (although these are more of a mid-rise... still higher than what I usually wear!). The only annoying thing about the shirt is that because it's vintage lace, the button holes are very loose, so I have to secure each of them with a safety pin so I don't flash people! A minor inconvenience, though.

Items:

Top- vintage
Shorts- American Eagle high waisted shortie
Belt- H&M
Bracelets- africa (large beads), Pandora (black lariat), unknown (red and grey crystals)
Shoes- Marc by Marc Jacobs

Thank you Marc Jacobs...

... for creating these adorable shoes.

Hi girls,

I'm really really pumped- I tried these shoes on a month ago, and have been dreaming of them ever since. Finally, they are mine! Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats!

Box and dust bag (!!!)

Mice!

I had seen these (or earlier versions) on some blogs a while ago, and at first thought they were kinda... strange. Apparently one of the earlier versions had red eyes, which sounds really creepy. I like the dark on dark aspect of these. The eyes and ears are a dark, patent navy blue, so it's a subtle contrast to the black leather of the shoes. I also really like that these have the slightly elastic heel. I find this type of style much easier to wear and break in than the rigid heels of most flats.

I'm most excited to see how many ways I can wear these! They're subtle and soft enough to wear somewhat formally, but they jazz up basic jean shorts and a top because, well, there are mouse faces on them!!

What do you think of Marc Jacobs' design? Weird or totally awesome??

OOTD: Floral skirt + ruffled sandals

Salut les filles!

I wore this simple outfit today, and managed to take some shots of it with my Nikon (rather than my webcam, which was used for the last OOTD post). It's warm today, so I needed to have the legs out!

My everyday hoops

I love this top, and only recently attempted to pair it with something other than jeans. I think it's great tucked into this high-waisted skirt, since it's loose but also shows my shape well. The skirt has two tiers- a pencil-ish layer underneath a loose layer with pockets. I think it's adorable, and such a unique silhouette for a summer skirt! The sandals I'm wearing are my absolute favourites, I've been wearing them almost every day. They go with everything, and they also have a mini-wedge heel, so they're perfect for my shortness :)

Items:

Top- Urban Outfitters
Skirt- Monteau (purchased at a small boutique in Peterborough)
Sandals- Steve Madden (at Winners!)
Jewelry- gifts/local jewelers

Wish of the Day: Coloured Jeans

Hello lovelies!

Just a quick post today, sharing something I've been thinking of for ages! I think it was the May or June issue of People StyleWatch that first published this photo of Cameron Diaz:

google image search
Since I saw this, I have been obsessed with finding these jeans (or, rather, a similar but much much less expensive version). Alas, I have found one! But... my size was nowhere to be found.

These elusive pastel pink jeans can be found at Zara! And while I didn't get their pink ones, I did buy their mint green option a few weeks ago. I've been wearing them a lot (last night, actually, which reminded me of my quest for the pink ones...), and only take a few rolls at the ankle to be the right length. But I think this type of jean- coloured and summery- really lends itself to a rolled cuff. It adds an easy, laid-back vibe.

I'll definitely be checking Zara again this week to see if they've restocked these... oh, and did I forget to mention these were only $40? And on the Zara website, it seems as though they're now on sale for $30. Hopefully those pink ones are as fabulous as I remember them to be!

I'll be posting an OOTD with these very soon!

OOTD: Summer dress + petite styling?

Hello lovelies,

It was incredibly warm here today, but I managed to put together a rather acceptable, if not completely fashionable and cute, outfit!

Crochet detailing on dress

Paired with a cross-body purse

With my shoes- sorry it's so dark!

Earrings and a whole lot of face!

Zipper detail on dress

Shoe shot!

Quite a casual, breezy outfit for such a hot day. Surprisingly enough I wasn't too hot with the jacket on. I had to keep in on when I went out because I had forgotten to put sunscreen on my shoulders, but I was perfectly fine, even in the sun! I also love the pairing of this cropped denim jacket with my white dress. Perfection for petites- cropped jackets make you look taller, as do short hemlines! On its own, I feel like the dress can look a little bit "nightie"-ish, but the jacket says "Yes, I'm definitely a dress!". Don't have much to say about the wedges- I love them. That's all. They add height, but are really comfy and easy to walk in.

Items:

Dress- Forever21
Jacket- Material Girl
Shoes- Jessica Simpson
Earrings- vintage from Peru
Bag- Cole Haan

Introducing... Chloe's Fashion and Shopping Adventures

Salut les filles!

*A warning now, my French Canadian side comes out every once in a while! Hopefully you think it's charming. J'espère.

So here I am, starting another blog. I've been getting so many requests for more fashion videos on my Youtube Channel that I thought I'd start a fashion blog for those of you who are interested! I have a makeup blog, so why not a fashion blog, I say?! It may not seem like it, but a fashion video (at least the kind I like to make!) takes a long long long time to finish. There's the planning of the outfits, taking the photos, filming an intro and in between parts, and editing. Double the work of a makeup tutorial.

So, my point is that YES I will be doing some fashion videos, but I will also be posting Outfits of the Day and some little shopping hauls on here for you to enjoy! Personally I love fashion blogs even more than I love makeup blogs- it's the ultimate window shopping experience!

To finish, I'll talk a little about my personal style. I'm petite (barely 5'4, which is the top of the petite spectrum!), with short legs (31'' inseam for bootcut jeans/pants, 28" or 29" for skinnies), so I've had quite the time learning how to dress myself properly. I'm still experimenting, though, and always learning new tricks!

I'd say that in terms of "style", I'm a mix of a few "types", depending on my mood and the occasion. I like to say that I'm a fashion chameleon. On any given day, I could be classic, trendy, bohemian, casual, or urban chic. The only styles I never really follow are preppy (I hate collared shirts!) and gothic/skater/punk (I did that in grade 9 and 10, and am so done with it!). I'm game for anything else, really!

So I really hope you guys enjoy this blog, and I know I'll have a lot of fun with it!

Happy shopping, and à bientôt!
